Iconic Coffee Cup

Having never lived in New York, I don't know much about this.  But I just read that the maker of the Anthora coffee cup just died.

Thoughts on Flash

Memories from the past life are fading fast.  Here's something that caused Robert to put down his glass of Malbec for a few minutes.

Espanol

The Pierce family is busy learning a new language.  Spanish.  Here's an update on the words Rory now has under his belt.  They are:

Agua
Mas
Mocos
Chau.

Can you use them all in a sentence?

Dante's Parilla

Well, the Pierce family has not been blogging for the last week because most members have been feeling under the weather with a flu that just will not let go.  We're all walking around with snot flying from our noses and warm foreheads.  Robert stayed out of the office two days last week and Rory stayed out of school for some time.  Mira and Caedryn are faring somewhat better.

Anyway, the influenza microbes are not preventing us from partying.  Yesterday we went to a birthday party held for Uma Schwartz at the home of her parents.  The puppet show and the Hello Kitty cake were  the highlights.

Today we went a bit out of town to a neighboring city where Dante Pusiol held the first annual Novadios parilla at the home of his parents.  That was quite nice as we relaxed on the patio, ate grilled meats, Rory took a swim, and the boys played one hole of golf from the tee just a few feet from the swimming pool.  This is the life.

Werner Herzog Reads Curious George

Spanish Lessons

Robert and Mira started with their Spanish language lessons this week.  Three mornings a week starting at 8 am we sit in our outdoor patio and get a lesson over breakfast. Rory usually sits with us. So far, so good.  Our teacher, Luchiano, seems to be putting up with our ADD.  We got some homework this weekend and we might even do it before our next class.  After class, Robert goes to work.  This week he used the public buss twice.  For 50 cents he gets an air-conditioned bus with plenty of seats where he can work.  The ride is about 40 minutes, so he'll probably stick with this approach until the arrival of a family car.  We are still undecided and underfunded on the car front.  We hope to get that worked out after Robert pulls in his first paycheck here in Cordoba.

Cilantro Update

Update to my cilantro blog entry of March 26:

I'm hearing from certain sources that cilantro is in fact sometimes available at the mercado norte in Cordoba.  Apparently, the Bolivian ladies who sell produce there sometimes have a stash.  We'll see.  This is a must for the Cinco de Mayo party to be held at the Pierce residence.

Vindication

Robert was vindicated this morning.  All week he had been facing guffaws and full belly laughs every time he opined outloud that the waft of subtle stench occasionally floaing through our living room this week was due to a difficult to locate dead frog.  Well, he's here to tell you that he found that frog, and it was dead.  A coroner's inquest was held.  Official cause of death:  Blunt trauma caused by a heavy sliding glass door probably operated by  a two year old boy, identity unknown.
